Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing South Coast Charters (“we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) govern all charter bookings, payments, cancellations, and use of our services. By booking or participating in a charter with South Coast Charters, you (“Client”, “charterer”, “you” or “your”) agree to be bound by this Agreement.

 

1. Service Overview

South Coast Charters is a licensed and insured fishing charter service based in Port Burwell, Ontario, offering guided fishing trips on Lake Erie. Trips may include walleye or steelhead fishing and vary in duration and group size.

2. Booking & Deposits

  • A non-refundable deposit of $100 (or % of total charter fee specified) is required at the time of booking to secure your charter date and time. Must be made via E-Transfer.

  • Final payment must be received prior to departure unless otherwise agreed in writing. Cash is preferred however e-transfers are accepted, 

  • Bookings are only confirmed once payment is processed and you receive a confirmation from South Coast Charters.

 

3. Payment Methods

We accept payment e-transfer, or cash. 

 

4. Cancellation & Rescheduling

  • Cancellation by Client:

    • If you cancel more than 14 days before your charter date, you may receive a refund of all monies paid minus the deposit (unless otherwise agreed).

    • If you cancel within 14 days of the charter date, you may forfeit all amounts paid, including the deposit.

  • Rescheduling: Requests to change your charter date may be accommodated subject to availability and must be received in writing.

  • Cancellation by South Coast Charters: We reserve the right to cancel a charter due to unsafe weather conditions, mechanical issues, or other operational concerns. In such cases, you will be offered to reschedule if we cannot find a date a refund will be issued.

 

5. Weather & Safety

Fishing charters operate in variable weather. Safety of clients and crew is our top priority:

  • We may modify, delay, or cancel a trip due to unsafe weather or water conditions.

  • Life jackets and safety gear will be provided 

 

6. Client Responsibilities

Clients must:

  • Arrive at the departure point at the scheduled time.

  • Have a valid fishing licence if required by law (especially for ages 18-65).

  • Bring appropriate clothing, sunscreen, food, drinks, and any personal items needed for the trip.

  • Follow all safety instructions and directions from the Captain and crew.

 

7. Fishing Limits & Charter Duration

  • Charter duration and return time are at the discretion of the Captain, especially if catch limits are reached. 

  • Charters may end early if species limits are achieved or due to safety concerns.

 

8. Liability & Insurance

  • South Coast Charters carries insurance for its vessels and operations.

  • You agree that participation in a fishing charter involves inherent risks (weather, water conditions, slips, falls, etc.). You release South Coast Charters and its crew from liability for any injury, loss, or damage except where caused by gross negligence.

 

9. Changes to Terms

South Coast Charters reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be posted on our website. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the revised terms.

 

10. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in courts located in Ontario.
